Wayne Miller


A freelance designer, director and performaer, Wayne Mller is the past Executive Director of the St George Theatre and past Producing Artistic Director of the Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre, a 40 year old producing company in one of New York City's outer boroughs.

His recent directorial work includes site specific stagings of THE SINS OF SALEM, a retelling of the infamous Salem, Massachusetts witch trials which explores a new motivation for the persecution and execution of the victims. The production was staged in multiple venue locations in the Historic Richmond Town Restoration, a village of 16th to 19th century buildings.

His most recent design project was lighting for GYPSY, the iconic American musical, starring Sally Mayes and Samanatha Bruce, directed by Bill Castellino. Produced by Harbor Lights Theater Company.

Prior designs include a special benefit performance of Chazz Palminteri's one-man show, A Bronx Tale. 

He designed and directed a site specific production of Saul Levitts's play,

THE ANDERSONVILLE TRIAL the 3rd County Courthouse in Historic Richmond Town. Historic Richmond Town is a living museum and restoration depicting 300 years of history in the Staten Island and New York City community. The 3rd County Courthouse was the former County Seat of Richmond County. Constructed in the 1830's, it was the ideal setting for the post Civil War trial of the commandant of the infamous Andersonville prison camp where more than 14,000 Union soldiers died of disease and malnutrition.

Other recent projects include site specific stagings of To Kill a Mockingbird, and the design and direction of the New York Premiere of Steven Deitz's comedic thriller, Yankee Tavern, the lighting design for INTO THE WOODS and ONCE ON THIS ISLAND (See GALLERY) for very ambitious prep school productions, and producing an all female cast production of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, performed ooutdoors on the steps of Staten Island's Borough Hall facing the iconic Staten Island Ferry.

Past productions include designing a revival of Paul Zindel's 1977 serio-comedy, LADIES AT THE ALAMO, directed by Craig Stoebling.  His design for  JACOB MARLEY'S CHRISTMAS CAROL is in its sixth year as an annual production at the Conference House MuseumFor more information see
